How Papers & Pixels handles your files, browser preferences, and visits.
Last updated:
Files you choose
The current image, PDF, and media tools process files locally in your browser. We do not upload their contents to our servers. This includes images, PDFs, videos, and embedded metadata read by the tools.
When you choose a folder, the media viewer uses the selected files and their relative folder paths to build the gallery. It does not scan other folders on your device. File names, previews, and metadata are used to display and process your selection, rather than sent to us.
Temporary processing and downloads
Selected files and generated previews are held by the page while you work. The tools do not save a file library to browser storage. Closing the page ends the tool session; files you download remain on your device until you delete them.
Your browser or device may maintain its own cache, download history, or other records under its settings.
Browser preferences
We use local storage under the key tool-website-theme to remember your choice of light or dark mode. If you have not chosen a theme, the site follows your device preference.
We also store your analytics choice in local storage under papers-and-pixels-analytics-v1 for up to 180 days. You can remove saved preferences by clearing this site's browser storage.
Website requests and hosting
Visiting a page sends ordinary network requests to the service hosting the website. These requests can include your IP address, browser information, requested URL, referrer information, and time of access. Hosting or network providers may process this information to deliver the site, protect it, and maintain service logs.
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs and stores visitors' IP addresses for security purposes, whether or not they are signed in to GitHub. See GitHub's hosting information and GitHub's Privacy Statement for its data practices.
Local file processing does not prevent these ordinary website requests. Selected file contents are not included in them by our tools.
Advertising and analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand visits to Papers & Pixels and which pages people use. The Google tag loads only after you accept analytics on our public website. If you decline, it is not loaded.
Google Analytics uses cookies, including cookies beginning with _ga, to distinguish browsers and measure visits. Analytics can include page visits, referring websites, browser and device information, and approximate location. Google processes network information such as your IP address to provide the service. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from partner sites.
Our analytics setup does not include your selected files, artwork, embedded metadata, or tool input values as custom event data. Public page and referrer URLs are sent without query strings or fragments. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in our tag configuration.
You can change your choice below. Declining after accepting disables further analytics measurement from our integration and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies on this site. It does not remove information already processed by Google.
Google AdSense is not currently integrated. If advertising is introduced, we will update this policy and provide the applicable choices before enabling it.
Links to other websites
If you follow a link to another website, that website's privacy practices apply. We do not control how those services handle your information.
Changes to this policy
This policy describes the current tools. We will update this page and its date when the way the website handles information changes.
